Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. --- Mark Twain

Legendary Roads

South American legendary roads you can be categorized in several ways, first, for example, those that are known better and you will have to use them as the only inland road to enjoy some beautiful place.

The first example –to visit the Perito Moreno glacier in Argentina, a visitor must drive along Ruta 40. The total length of the road is over 5,000 kilometers from the Bolivian border to Terra de Fuego.

Peru

30.06.2013
The Journey : Copacabana (Bolivia ) - Yunguyo - Puno (Peru ), 143 km
The Border of Peru - Bolivia.

Leaving Bolivia is nothing extraordinary. Passport control will add one more stamp, the customs will take away the document of temporary import of the car, and asks something about fuel. In Bolivia the fuel is almost 3x cheaper than in nearby countries.

Then the next South American country of Peru is ahead. Here formalities take also no time at all. Immigration - and then the vehicle insurance. Farther- on the wall of a shop "Welcome to Peru".

Ten meters further there was another check-point.

North_Yungas_DSC00781
A couple of paragraphs from Wikipedia :

The North Yungas Road (alternatively known as Grove's Road, Coroico Road, Camino de las Yungas, Road of fate or Death Road) is a 61-kilometre (38 mi) or 69-kilometre (43 mi) road leading from La Paz to Coroico, 56 kilometres northeast of La Paz in the Yungas region of Bolivia.

It is legendary for its extreme danger and in 1995 the Inter-American Development Bank christened it as the "world's most dangerous road". One estimate is that 200 to 300 travellers are killed yearly along the road. The road includes cross markings on many of the spots where vehicles have fallen.
