Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.

Another morning in the parking lot of the „Hotel Embratel". The fourth day on this legendary highway begins.

The night was generally quiet, except for the voices heard from the rain forest. Frogs croak, and in the meantime from the side of the dark forest could be heard the breakage of some large branches. No one, of course, is in sight.

An ant-free overnight place almost in the middle of the road.

At 7:30 we begin to move on. The road conditions are better than yesterday and the ground is drier.

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSC05718
And even here,on the several hundred kilometers deserted long road there is all kind of litter lying around.

Another bridge, which needs a little bit of fixing of the boards before driving over.

And also the following bridges need pre - inspection. Each bridge, after all, is broken from a different place. Some boards are so friable and loose that even while stepping on the wrong place - one could find himself either under the bridge or somewhere on the half- way downwards to the ground. Alligators are not seen or heard. But maybe I do not know how to check them.

Almost a kilometer of a very good road...

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSCN7939
And just a good road. No end in sight. With the current speed of moving it will take probably three more days.

Gradually signs of civilization begin to appear at the road-sides.

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSCN7985
Then there's in the middle of the rain forest suddenly a large surfaced square.

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSCN7983
And further on are the ruins of a house. A gas station?

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSCN7988
By calculating the covered kilometers the next Embratel tower should come in sight soon and according to the map we should reach to a larger river.

At one moment the narrow path through the rain forest suddenly hanges over into an abandoned airfield.

At end of the abandoned airfield there is a small village.

The Igapo-Acu river can be crossed only by ferry. The ferry gives service on a call, ie, when you give the car signal and 5 minutes later the ship's engines will be started, and the barge arrives to take a car or a motobike over to the other side.

And there is a shady place to eat. If it is still +30-35 degrees outside, the more you know how to valuate it. Just in time. The menu includes fresh fish.

After lunch it seems a good idea to have here a look around, and then overnight by the river.

The local grow turtles that are later released in the reservation.

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSC05802
A few dozen eggs are placed into holes dug in the sand, the sun will take care of the warmth and two months later baby turtles appear.

BR-319_Humaita_Manaus_Day_4_DSC05775
There lives a dolphin in this river who appears out if you tap a fish to the water for a few minutes. The dolphin tugs, gets the fish and disappears.

Some vehicles are moving here even in the dark, do not want to think about that….

During the fourth day we covered 70 kilometers, more than half of the road has been passed.
