Dakar 2015 - San Juan Colored Bridge
06.01.2015
San Juan, Argentina,
Puente de Colores – San Juan.
The website of the Dakar 2015 gives a pretty good overview of what's going to happen under the bridge. That the start will be given at 7 am and the contestants are going to drive four times under the bridge.
This way ..
and the other way round. And immediately after the passing of a car a thick cloud of dust reaches the onlookers. No one is allowed to move closer.
The view from the bridge is better. The best places are occupied, of course, but somehow you can still make it.
The riverfront is also full of people. The river here is now symbolic.
Then the time between the starts is reduced, perhaps up to 30 seconds, so that at the same time there are more than one vehicle under the bridge.
At the same time large accompany machines are driving towards Chilecito.
A typical picture in the turns of the road.
Summery - I was hoping that I could also get closer, but no way. To watch the vehicles of Dakari from upwards is of course a completely new experience, but all the images seem to be somehow gray, and the camera will be covered with gray dust as well.
I made an attempt to drive back to town in the hope to upload yesterday`s post and images of Vallecito.
Having reached the bridge it turned out that driving further was not allowed, one just must drive northwards. So I don`t give up so easily - and after some time I am in the center of town and the post is uploaded. The wifi in the shopping centers is usually ok and the same was here.
Otherwise, it will take more time and it is 400 kilometers to Chilecito. The road will be again Ruta 40th.
And on the road some other Dakar machines are moving.
Over time the weather gets hotter and the nice light-blue sky changers darker and darker.
Until finally some big raindrops fall. It may last about for 10 minutes. Not a rainstorm.
Shortly after the rain all the water is flowing down the mountain.
You just wait for some time and then watching the others driving through water and you determine the deepness of the water and drive through. The water is not deep, reaching up to half of the wheel.
Continued...
Now it is necessary to wait for some time till Dakar reaches back to Argentina. In order to get more and more colorful images.
