El Zanjon
18.12.2014,
Buenos Aires.
To begin with - a practical guidance on - "How to extend the temporary license of bringing the car to Argentina."
Searched the internet first for information but- no luck. This means that no information about Argentina. There was certain information for the regulations about Peru and Chile but this kind was not necessary at the moment.
Christian - the owner of Andean Roads (current accommodation facilities) mentioned that there really should not be any problem concerning the extension and would take perhaps only a day. And phoned to the customs to be sure of the information. In short, the next morning I was back in the center of the familiar 25 Plaza Mayo square, as it was located just opposite the office.
At the customs everything worked extremely well and all the process took less than half an hour. No byreaucracy whatsoever. Very friendly attitude and perfect service.
Plaza de Las Armas is some hundred meters towards the sea.
There was said to be a unique attraction - El Zanjon de Granados in the district of San Telmo.
San Telmo side streets, graffiti is everywhere here, too.
Upon arrival it turns out that the door is firmly shut, but in a quarter of an hour a tour in the Spanish language will begin. Another option would be to wait for an hour and participate in the English language one, but it is too long to wait for.
In short- in El Zanjon there is a completely restored house from 1830 which has underneath tunnels since the time when Buenos Aires was founded. Currently there is a museum here, and these facilities can also be rented for various events.
Some of the items found during the excavations.
Large water tank.
A city plan of these times.
An advertisement introducing El Zanjon. In conclusion it can be said that this place is worth visiting, a very special place. In TripAdvisor this place has got the 53th place.
Back on earth, outside it is getting warmer and warmer.
In the center there is something interesting to see every hundred meters. Iglesia San Francisco (built 1730-1754), the exterior,
And interior.
The General Manuel Belgrano mauseloum is housed in the building as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santo_Domingo_convent
