Salta
Salta is a town in the northwestern part of Argentina. This town is also the capital of the Salta Province and has more than half a million inhabitants. It is located in the valley of Lerma (Lerma Valley), 1152 m above sea level. The town was founded by the Spanish conquistador Hernando de Lerma on April 16, 1582.
The July 9 Square can be considered the center of the town.
Here is located The Salta Cathedral, built between 1958-1882.
Cabildo or the first Town Hall of Salta, the construction of which began in 1717, has been restored. Museo Historico del Norte is located here now.
A view from the balcony of the second floor on July 9 Square.
The museum courtyard.
Some historic vehicles. It was not allowed to take pictures inside.
Three times a day a tourist bus makes a two-hour tour around the city and the excursion begins in front of the museum.
San Francisco Church is about a hundred meters away in the intersection of Cordoba and Caserose street. The facade was being currently restored, and no chance to get in.
On a hot midday the streets are empty.
Tourist Information – and big advertisements of Dakar. One can get a perfectly good city map from here.
Palacio Legislativo - the current Town Hall.
The house has also been referred to as the "House of Lions", the lion statues are from France.
Iglesia Nuestra Senora de La Candelaria de La Vina.
The monument of General Martin M.de Guemes.
Deja - vu. Is the left one Volga?
On the top of Cerro San Bernando can reached by a funicular.
